I love peanut butter. I don’t understand when people say, “Oh it’s too peanut buttery”. What does that mean?
My friend Tim loves peanut butter more than me. He found an article about peanut butter desserts in Sydney and I suggested we undertake a quest to try all the ten desserts listed.
This quest has been ongoing for about a year now and we have only eaten eight of the ten desserts. We also hashtag each experience on Instagram as #pbquest. Unfortunately this hashtag has been infiltrated by peanut butter Quest Bars from random people, but that’s a different story…
Here are the goods.
Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwich @ Palings
Amaze! Two peanut butter cookies sandwich scoops of peanut butter ice cream, with dark chocolate poured over. Our very first dessert in the quest.
Little Lost Brioche @ Devon
Avs! Peanut butter ice cream, brioche, nutella, fried banana and many more. This was good on paper, but I felt there were too many competing flavours and the peanut butter was just a tiny part of it all.
Peanut Butter and Banana Sundae @ Hartsyard
(almost) Amaze! Pretzel and peanut butter ice cream, peanut butter crunch, banana doughnuts, salted caramel. Only almost because it gets hard to eat after a while. This is definitely more enjoyable when shared.
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Tart @ The Pie Tin
Deece! Crunchy peanut butter mousse, chocolate ganache on a chocolate cookie base, topped with peanut brittle. Simple, yet effective.
Stoner’s Delight 2.0 @ Ms G’s
Deece! Dulce de leche, peanut butter, banana fritter, potato chips, candied bacon, donut ice cream, Mars bar slice. A lot of competing ingredients, but surprisingly worked well together. Except the bacon. I don’t particularly like bacon in my desserts.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake @ Milkbar by Cafe Ish
Amaze! Peanut butter, ice cream, blueberry and raspberry jelly. This is probably the best milkshake I’ve ever tried, although it is more like a thickshake.
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Ganache Cake @ Kurtosh
Amaze! Peanut butter mousse, chocolate cookie, chocolate ganache. Although this is a bit rich, the beauty of Kurtosh is the ability to order whatever size you feel like. So you can have a tiny tiny slice, or a massive slab.
The Fluffernutter @ The Dip
Deece! Peanut butter and marshmallow brownie, dark chocolate ice cream. Another simple dessert, but much easier to get through than the other desserts above.
